What the tri-blend fabric does

The "tri" in Perfect Tri is the three-yarn blend: polyester for durability and the heathered visual, combed ring-spun cotton for softness and printability, and rayon for drape and that lived-in, slightly worn feel. The result is a tee that hangs softer and looks more textured than a 100% cotton blank, an aesthetic that's made tri-blends loved by fashion-forward and lifestyle brands. Because tri-blend fabric takes dye unevenly across its three fibers, each garment carries slight, character-giving color variation; that's inherent to the fabric, not an inconsistency to correct for.

Decoration: read this before you print

Tri-blend is a more demanding print surface than cotton, and getting it right is mostly about heat management. The rayon and polyester content make the fabric heat-sensitive, so District specifically advises special care throughout the printing process — lower cure temperatures and careful dryer management to avoid scorching or dye migration, where the polyester's dye bleeds up into the printed ink (most visible as a pink halo on white ink over red or navy garments). For screen printing, that means low-bleed or poly-specific inks and a controlled cure. Consult your decorator or ink supplier for the specific settings; this isn't a fabric to run on default cotton settings.

For DTG specifically, the standard DM130 will print but isn't optimized for it. District makes a dedicated DM130DTG Perfect Tri DTG Tee — a 5 oz version of the same tri-blend, pre-treated with District's PosiPrint technology and engineered for direct-to-garment printing. If your program is running DTG on a tri-blend, that's the version built for it (note: it's not compatible with DTG printers that use a wet-on-wet pre-treating process).

Order the DM130 blank for in-house decoration, or send us your logo for custom screen printing, embroidery, or DTF transfers.

The Perfect Tri family

The DM130 anchors a coordinated tri-blend family, which makes it practical for programs that need matching styles across cuts. The DM130L Women's Perfect Tri Tee is the women's-cut version in the same 4.5 oz 50/25/25 tri-blend, and the DM138L Women's Perfect Tri Racerback Tank brings the same fabric into a tank silhouette for warm-weather and athletic programs. For a coordinated run where men's tees, women's tees, and tanks all need to match in fabric and finish, the Perfect Tri family is built to pair.

Where the DM130 fits against District's other tees

District's tee lineup steps across three fabric philosophies. The DM130 is the tri-blend (fashion) tier; below it sit the blend and cotton options for programs that prioritize price or print-simplicity over the tri-blend aesthetic.

Style Fabric Best for
District DM130 Perfect Tri 4.5 oz 50/25/25 poly/cotton/rayon tri-blend Fashion and lifestyle merch — softest, most heathered, most drape
District DM108 Perfect Blend 4.3 oz 60/40 ring-spun combed cotton/poly (CVC) Soft hand at blend pricing, easier to print than tri-blend
District DT6000 Very Important Tee 4.3 oz 100% combed ring-spun cotton Value cotton blank, simplest print surface, DTG-friendly

Questions buyers ask

What is a tri-blend tee and why choose it?

A tri-blend combines three yarns — polyester, combed ring-spun cotton, and rayon. The DM130's 50/25/25 blend produces a softer, more drapey, more heathered tee than a 100% cotton blank, which is the look that defines fashion and lifestyle merch. Choose it when the finished shirt needs to feel and look retail-quality; choose a cotton or CVC blank when print-simplicity or price is the priority.

Can you screen print on the DM130?

Yes, but with care. Tri-blend fabric is heat-sensitive, so it requires lower cure temperatures and attention to dye migration (the polyester dye bleeding into the ink). Use low-bleed or polyester-appropriate inks and a controlled cure, and consult your decorator on settings — don't run it on default cotton parameters. Done right, the DM130 prints cleanly; done on cotton settings, you risk scorching and color bleed.

What's the difference between the DM130 and the DM130DTG?

The standard DM130 is a 4.5 oz tri-blend for general decoration. The DM130DTG is a 5 oz version of the same tri-blend, pre-treated with District's PosiPrint technology and engineered specifically for direct-to-garment printing. If your program is running DTG on tri-blend fabric, the DM130DTG is the version built for it — though it's not compatible with DTG printers that use a wet-on-wet pre-treating process.

Is there a women's version?

Yes — the DM130L Women's Perfect Tri Tee uses the same 4.5 oz 50/25/25 tri-blend in a women's cut. There's also the DM138L Women's Perfect Tri Racerback Tank in the same fabric. For a coordinated program, the men's DM130, women's DM130L, and DM138L tank all match in fabric and finish.

Why do the colors vary slightly between shirts?

Tri-blend fabric takes dye differently across its three fibers, which produces slight color variation from garment to garment. District notes this as inherent to the fabric — it's part of the tri-blend's character, not a quality defect. For programs that need exact color consistency across every unit, a solid-dyed cotton or CVC blank is the more predictable choice.
