Oscar Wilde once said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness."

You've heard the phrase, right? Perhaps the great author and satirist was correct in certain contexts, but in the online retail and wholesale world, imitation--or outright forgery, plagiarism, or stealing--can lead well-minded customers down dangerous paths.

Don't fall for fakes. That means fake emails and phishing scams, fake IRS agents asking you to pay taxes with gift cards, and fake websites pretending to be legitimate wholesalers. All of these fakers and scam artists exist, sadly, and they're all too eager to take your hard-earned money and ruin your hard-earned reputation.

Why are we blogging about this? Because there are a number of websites pretending to be us, all in the name of stealing from you.

We're bulkthreads.com, the one and only. Any other wholesaler with a riff on our name isn't affiliated with us and shouldn't be trusted.

That means don't trust anyone with a website like bbulkthreads.com, or bulkthrea3ds.org . . . we actually don't want to post the real names because we don't want any of our wonderful customers falling for this scam.

So here are some tips to avoid being scammed.

  1. Does the site have contact info, and can you actually contact the company? It doesn't have to be a phone number--we choose to run chats and emails because we're more efficient that way--but if you try to contact the company and you get a note that says, "Unable to send message . . ." run away!
  2. Are there broken links everywhere?
  3. Is the price too good to be true? In other words, does each reputable website sell a hoodie for, say, somewhere between $12-14 dollars, but this website is offering it for $4? Shop around and find the best deals, but sometimes a price is, in fact, too good to be true!
  4. Is the url "https," which is good), or the old-fashioned "http" (which is less secure)?
  5. Does the website allow credit cards? If so, that's always good because it means you can get your money back.
  6. Is there longevity? How long has the company been around?
  7. Lastly, reviews--which are easy to fake. Stay away from companies who have been around for two months and magically have thousands of reviews. Sadly, most of the reviews in the online world are fake, even those touting "verified" badges can be faked.

We hope this helps!
